Supporting our SEND students
At City Heights E-ACT Academy we welcome all students including those who have a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND).
We provide effective opportunities for all students by responding to their diverse learning needs, setting suitable learning challenges and overcoming barriers to learning. Inclusion is at the centre of our academy’s vision and values.
If you request a place at City Heights E-ACT Academy for a student with a Statement/Education Health Care Plan, the headteacher and assistant headteacher (inclusion) will meet to discuss the application.
At this time any concerns will be referred to Lambeth Council. If it is appropriate a meeting will be arranged with the assistant headteacher (inclusion).
How we identify students who need support:
- A weekly meeting is held to discuss the progress of students
- A balance of observational, summative and formative assessment data as well as talking with students, are used to determine progress
- At this meeting support arrangements are reviewed and allocated support evaluated. This is done on an individual basis where each student’s current individual needs are assessed to decide the level of support needed
The information set out in the documents below outlines our approach to SEND.
